Volunteer Center to Closed / Update on COVID-19 Response
March 13 update: Out of an abundance of caution and to protect the health of our staff, volunteers, and community, Global Links will suspend its volunteer activities immediately with the hope to welcome back volunteers to our volunteer center starting Tuesday, April 14.
During this time, Global Links headquarters will be closed to the public and will not be accepting donations of home medical products from the public at our facility. We look forward to accepting those donations again mid-April, depending on the evolving public health guidelines. Global Links will continue our programs to support our partners and safe surplus collections, with revised protocols to protect the health and safety of our team members and partners. Do not hesitate to reach out to staff by email or phone with any questions.
In addition to excellent hand washing hygiene and staying home when sick, social distancing - avoiding shaking hands, not standing close to others, not gathering in large groups, minimizing general social contact - is one of the best ways to slow the pace of the spread of COVID-19. In this manner we not only protect ourselves, but also others we come into contact with throughout the day. We intentionally practice respect for our Global Links family and for everyone in our wider community.
Global Links encourages you to follow the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for accurate and up-to-date information on the COVID-19 pandemic. For updates on cases in Pennsylvania, visit the PA Department of Health website.
Our international program team continues to work with the Pan American Health Organization/WHO to support and protect healthcare workers during this pandemic and other epidemics confronting the region. For 30 years we have been working to strengthen public health systems in resource poor communities and to provide healthcare workers with the materials they need to provide quality care.
We will continue to monitor the rapidly changing situation with health authorities and will keep you - our extended Global Links family - informed of any changes to our plans going forward. This is a serious situation, but one in which we can and must come together as a community to reduce the spread of the virus, look
