History of the Suture Donation Program

Global Links Suture Donation Program was organized in 1989, and since that date nearly one million sutures have been sent to more than 80 hospitals in Africa, Asia, South and Central America and the South Pacific. Sutures arrive in the Global Links office along with other donations of medical equipment, or are sent to Global Links from hospitals all over the United States. They are checked and sorted by volunteers, and then delivered to their destination by visiting doctors or missionaries, put on containers with other medical aid, or occasionally sent by airmail.
